Specification Literacy
As AI systems become general-purpose interpreters of human intent, everyone who works with them is writing specifications. The gap between what a person means and what they specify is where failures occur, and it is invisible from the inside. This draft framework argues that specification literacy belongs alongside reading, writing, and numeracy, traces how it develops from kindergarten through working life, and pilots it first with an adult cohort at De Anza College. Dedicated to the public domain under CC0 1.0.
